Huomioita säätilanteesta - Notes about the weather condition: Edellisenä päivänä Suomen yllä viipynyt pieni matalapaine alkoi sulautua lännestä lähestyneeseen voimakkaaseen matalapaineeseen. Pienen yhteydessä esiintyi edellisenä päivänä sadekuuroja etenkin meren yllä. Tänä päivänä yöksi saapui lämmin rintama ja pian perään kylmä rintama. Yhdessä ne jäivät vähäksi ajaksi lähes paikalleen Etelä-Suomen ylle pitäen sään ajoittain sateisena (kuvan käytävä oli nytkin märkä), mutta edelleen hyvin leutona - During the previous day the small low pressure lingered over southern Finland started to fuse into a strong low pressure approached from the west. Along the small one there appeared showers during the previous day especially over the sea. During this day there arrived a warm front until the night and soon afterwards a cold front. Together they stayed allmost in place for a short time over southern Finland as keeping the weather occasionally rainy (the path in the photo was wet now as well), but further very mild.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hahtuvapilviä lauttoina hitaassa liikkeessä oikealta vasemmalle leudossa polaari-ilmamassassa ja heikossa lounais - länsituulessa. Ilmamassa oli sen verran kuivaa, että heikossa tuulessakin oli vain vähän utua. Laskeva aurinko (kts. Gaisma) aiheutti vähän iltaruskosävyjä - Layers of altocumulus clouds in a slow move from the right to the left in a mild polaric air mass and weak southwesterly - westerly wind. The air mass was so much dry, that in the weak wind as well there was only little of haze. The setting sun (look Gaisma) was causing a bit of sunset colours.

Kuvan kasvillisuus - Vegetation in the picture: Ruska oli edennyt nyt sen verran, että kuvan taustalla näkyvissä koivuissa oli jo runsaasti keltaista väriä. Muualla ympäristössä kesävihreitäkin lajeja oli kuitenkin edelleen ja ruskan huippu oli vielä kaukana. Yksittäisiä lajeja oli jo alastomina, kuten tuomi (Prunus padus) ja punasaarni (Fraxinus excelsior). Leudolle syksylle tyypillisesti ruska oli nyt hyvin kirjavaa ja kaikenlaisia kehitysvaiheita oli samaan aikaan - Fall colours had been evolved now so much, that there was allready a plenty of yellow colour on the birches in the background of the photo. However elsewhere in the region there was further summer green species as well and the peak of fall colours was yet far away. Single species were allready naked, like Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) and Green Ash (Fraxinus excelsior). Typically for a mild autumn fall colours were very multicoloured and there was all kinds of phases of development at the same time.

Huomioita säätilanteesta - Notes about the weather condition: Edellisen ja tämän päivän aikana Etelä-Suomen päällä ja aluksi lännempänä oli pieni matalapaine, joka kierrätti edelleen ajankohtaan nähden leutoa ilmaa aluksi etelästä ja tänä päivänä lounaasta - lännestä. Matalapaineeseen liittyen etenkin edellisenä päivänä esiintyi kuurottaisia sateita. Tuulet olivat koko ajan heikkoja ja ajoittain oli tyyntä. Runsas pilvisyys takasi hyvin lämpimät yöt siitä huolimatta - During the previous and this day over southern Finland and at first more westwards there was a small low pressure, which circulated further an unseasonally warm air at first from the south and during this day form the west - southwest. Associating with the low pressure there appeared showery rain especially during the previous day. Winds were all the time weak and it was occasionally calm. A plentyfull cloudiness quaranteed very warm nights despite of that.

Kosteaa takakesää vailla loppua... - A humid after summer without an end...

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Hitaasti oikealta vasemmalle liikkunutta hahtuva-, verho- ja paikoin kumpukerrospilvisyyttä tiiviinä kerroksena lähes tyynessä säässä. Näiden pilvien seassa oli vaihtelevasti sade- ja kuuropilviä paikalleen jääneeseen okluusiorintamaan liittyen. Aamuiset sumut etenkin sisämaassa olivat taas hälvenneet, mutta ilmaan jäi utua kaikkialla - Altocumulus, altostratus and locally stratocumulus clouds as a tight layer moved slowly from the right to the left in an allmost calm weather. Among these clouds there were variably nimbostratus and cumulonimbus clouds as associated with an occluded front remained in place. The fog of the morning especially in inland areas was again dissappeared, but there remained haze in the air everywhere.

Kuvan kasvillisuus - Vegetation in the picture: Puistoäytävän oikealla puolella oleva nurmikko oli leikattu edelliseen kuvaan verrattuna. Ajankohtaan nähden hyvin lämmin sää oli jatkunut taas jo useita päiviä. Tällöin kasvukausi eteni edelleen poikkeuksellisen voimakkaasti, joka näkyi ennätyksellisesti kerääntyneenä tehoisana lämpösummana (normaalisti tällä alueella saavutetaan kasvun loppuun mennessä n. arvo 1300) ja mm. nurmikoiden lähes kesän veroisena kasvuna. Monet ns. rikkaruohot kasvoivat ja kukkivat lämmön auttamana hyvin toistamiseen. Kuivuuden jälkeinen kosteus vaikutti myös suuresti näiden lajien "toiseen kesään" - The lawn on the right side of the path was mowed as compared to the previous photo. The unseasonally very warm weather had been continuing again allready for several days. Therefore the growing season proceeded further unusually strongly, which appeared as accumulation of the effective temperature sum in a record breaking way (normally by the end of the growth there is reached the value of about 1300 at this region) and for example as allmost summery growth rate of the lawns. Many so called weeds were growing and blooming well for the second time as helped by the warmth. The moisture after the drought was affecting also greatly to the "second summer" of these species.

Huomioita säätilanteesta - Notes about the weather condition: Yöksi Etelä-Suomeen saapui okluusiorintama, joka jäi paikalleen matalapaineen venyessä lännestä itään. Rintaman kohdalla etelätuulet tyyntyivät ajoittain lähes kokonaan. Tämä mahdollisti jälleen yö- ja aamusumua etenkin sisämaassa, kun leuto ilmamassa oli sen verran kosteaa. Syksyn eteneminen näkyi sumupilvien viipymisenä taivaalla herkästi koko päivänkin; aurinko ei vaikuttanut enää kunnolla. Rintaman myötä koko päivän esiintyi ajoittain sadekuuroja - There arrived an occluded front until the night into southern Finland. That remained in place as a low pressure stretched to the east. At the place of the front southerly winds calmed occasionally allmost completely. This made possible again night and morning fog especially in inland areas, as the mild air mass was so much humid. The proceeding of the autumn was appearing as lingering stratus clouds in the sky easily for all day as well; the sun wasn't affecting properly anymore. Due to the front there appeared occasionally showers all day.

Hyvin leutoa takakesää rintamien välissä - A very mild after summer between the fronts

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Taivaanrannassa vähäisiä määriä untuva- ja harsopilviä; ne ulottuivat kuvaajan oikealle puolelle merkkinä lounaasta lähestyvästä okluusiorintamasta. Kuvaajan takana ja vasemmalla puolella oli ilmamassaan liittynyttä epäyhtenäistä kumpukerrospilvimassaa liikkeessä kohtalaisesti koilliseen. Ko. polaari-ilmamassan myötä aamun utu oli hävinnyt - On the horizon small amounts of cirrus and cirrostratus clouds; they reached to the right side of the photographer as a sign of an occluded front approaching from the southwest. In the backside and the leftside of the photographer as associated with the air mass there was an uneven mass of stratocumulus clouds on the move moderately to the northeast. Due to the polaric air mass in question haze of the morning was vanished.

Syysvärit olivat edelleen ainakin n. kaksi viikkoa jäljessä tavanomaisesta aikataulusta - The proceeding of the fall colours was further slow, which was helped by the unseasonally very warm weather and the moisturising of the soil further since the record dry summer. The fall colours were further at least about two weeks late of the usual schedule.

Huomioita säätilanteesta - Notes about the weather condition: Lounaasta oli lähestymässä uusi okluusiorintama ja sen sadealue saapui seuraavaksi yöksi. Tässä vaiheessa oli lähestymässä sen pilvivyöhyke ja tuulet voimistuivat illan mittaan vähän ja kääntyivät etelään. Edellisen illan ukkossade huuhtoi tuon puistokäytävän hiekan tasaiseksi. Nyt jäljet olivat lisääntyneet aamuun nähden ihmisten liikuttua - There was approaching a new occluded front from the southwest and its precipitation area arrived until the following night. At this phase there was approaching its cloud zone and winds picked up a bit during the evening and turned to the south. The thundery rain of the previous evening flushed that path's sand to be even. As compared to the morning now tracks had been increased as people had been moved about.

Pilvilajit - Cloud Types: Sumupilvilauttoja heikossa lounaistuulessa, jolloin pilvien liike hitaasti oikealta vasemmalle. Ajankohtaan nähden hyvin leudon ilmamassan kosteus oli vähenemässä, mutta edellisen illan sateiden ja heikkojen tuulien auttamana se näkyi vielä utuna; etenkin sisämaassa oli myös aamusumua - Stratus cloud layers in a weak southwesterly wind, where the movement of the clouds was slowly from the right to the left. The humidity of the unseasonally very mild air mass was decreasing, but as helped by the previous evening's rains and the weak winds it appeared yet as haze; especially in inland areas there was morning fog as well.

Kuvan kasvillisuus - Vegetation in the picture: Lähes ennallaan edelliseen kuvaan verrattuna. Nurmikon pinnalla oli runsaasti kastetta edellisen illan rankan sateen (alueella oli runsaasti ukkosta) ja ilmamassan kosteuden ansiosta. Heikko tuuli edesauttoi kasteen runsastumista yön aikana. Maaperä kostui edellisillan ukkossateen ansiosta vihdoinkin kunnolla kuivuuden jälkeen; vesistöjen ja myöhemmin pohjaveden pinnat alkoivat nousta selvästi. Joet reagoivat jo nyt paikoin jopa vähän tulvimalla - Allmost unchanged as compared to the previous photo. There was plenty of dew on the surface of the lawn thanks to the previous evenings heavy rain (there was a lot of thunder at the area) and the humidity of the air mass. The weak wind helped the dew to become profuse during the night. The soil was finally wetted properly after the drought thanks to the previous evening's thundery rain; levels of the water areas and later levels of the ground water started to rise clearly. Rivers reacted allready now even as flooding a bit locally.

Huomioita säätilanteesta - Notes about the weather condition: Edellisen kuvan jälkeen Britteinsaarilla ja Etelä-Skandinaviassa ollut matalapaine kierrätti Suomeen ajankohtaan nähden erittäin leutoa ilmamassaa lounaasta. Edellisen päivän aikana pieneen matalapaineen osakeskukseen liittynyt rintamasysteemi toi etenkin illalla lännestä runsaasti sateita ja suhteellisen lämpimän Suomenlahden (+10...+15 asteinen) voimistamana sadealueeseen kehittyi etelärannikon tienoille ajankohtaan nähden poikkeuksellisen paljon voimakasta ukkosta. Aamuun mennessä rintama siirtyi koilliseen ja ajoittain navakat etelätuulet tyyntyivät ja kääntyivät lounaaseen vain ilmamassan pilvisyyden jäädessä (ko. sumupilvet) - After the previous photo a low pressure over British Isles and southern Skandinavia circulated unseasonally very mild air mass from the southwest. During the previous day a frontal system associated with a small low pressure subcenter brought a lot of rain from the west especially in the evening and as strengthened by the relatively warm The Gulf Of Finland (+10 C...+15 C) there formed unseasonally much severe thunder into the precipitation area along the southern coast. Until the morning the front moved to the northeast and occasionally fresh southerly winds calmed down and turned to the southwest as only the clouds of the air mass remained (the stratus clouds in question).
